Bamboo is one of the Four Gentlemen plants (四君子: plum blossom, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum), which are emblems of noble character and sublime beauty in Asian culture.  Naturally, millions of artists have painted them over thousands of years in the traditionally Asian manner (on a piece of rice paper, with brushes and sumi ink).  I reinterpreted the quintessentially Asian idea with lenses of contemporary art, using both Eastern and Western media.   The following images are the results of this aesthetic experimentation.
